Delhi CG Awards is a national-level
annual awards conducted for students and professionals to encourage the
talents in the fields of Visual Effects, Animation and Digital Film
Making. The awards bring in various talented students/professionals from
across the country to showcase their talents. The 5th Delhi CG Awards
conducted in 2016 was sponsored by leading companies like Autodesk,
Canon, Animation Express and MACC.

The day was themed around Fashion
Photography with Mr. Bhagath from Makka Studio running through a
“Fashion Photography” workshop for UG Photography students of ICAT
Design and Media College on 7 April, 2016.
Mr. Bhagath started
his journey as a lens-lover in 2002. His remarkable skills in intuitive
lighting and contemporary styling made him a much sought-after name in
soft-light portraiture and fashion photography.
The workshop
gave the students an insight of how to generate ideas for a client brief
and also dealing with the creative team: Model, Makeup and Hair
Stylist, and Art Director. The workshop also taught the students how to
create their own style to stand out in the industry with research on
Pre-Production, Production and Post Processing techniques.

A two-day workshop on the most varied
and interesting form of photography, ‘Street Photography’ was conducted
on 30 and 31 March, 2016, for the students of UG Photography. The
workshop was handled by Mr. Arun Titan, who after completing his
graduation in Visual Communication & Fine Arts, produced various
best-in-class street photos around India. His photographs were selected
for the 8th Angkor Photo Workshop conducted at SIEM RECP, Cambodia.
The workshop gave the students a wonderful opportunity to extend their
skills and crown their portfolio with their best works. The workshop not
just educated students on street photography, but helped them improve
their photographic and storytelling skills. Mr. Arun explained how to
choose a location, how to employ the light available, how to plan shots,
and how to interact with people to take better photographs. Mr. Arun
also discussed on decisive moments and technical aspects of camera and
gears.

There is no doubt on how museums engage
and develop the community and illustrate the time period on history,
culture and technology. UG Photography students of ICAT Design &
Media College, Chennai visited the India’s First Photography and Vintage
Camera museum owned by Dr. A.V. Arun, a passionate Camera Collector at
Kovalam ECR, Chennai.
The museum houses the personal collection
of cameras of Dr. A.V. Arun that traces the history of photography and
contains at least 1500 vintage and antique cameras. The students were
made to explore the principles of Penta prism and also the timeline of
vintage cameras. Students also had the opportunity to learn about film
development and revolution in film technology.

On 19 March, 2016, 20 students from
ICAT Animation department visited the Mysore Palace. It was a one-day
trip organized as a part of the Evolution of Art and Design module, to
learn the different art styles, art forms, sculptures etc.
The students were spellbound to see the
magnificent proportions and splendid beauty of the palace, its
paintings and its architecture. They felt inspiring to learn the history
and heritage of the palace. They got to witness our magnificent styles,
culture, design, sculptures etc that they were previously learning in
their theory classes. The trip gave them a clear insight on the
architectural extravaganza of our ancestors and they are sure to have
been inspired to create extraordinary designs.
