Onam Celebrations @ ICAT, Bangalore
The students and staff of ICAT, Bangalore celebrated the auspicious festival of Onam at the college on 9th of September, 2014.
As part of the celebrations, the students tried to bring out the best of Kerala's culture and tradition by intricately participating in the Pookalam (floral Rangoli) competition held at the college. The students and staff performed the traditional dance, 'Thiruvathirakali' and boat race song 'Vanjipaattu', spreading the flavour of Kerala in the entire campus.
Other activities like, 'Ethnic King & Queen', ‘Tug of War’, and ‘Sundharik Pott Kuthal’ were the highlights of this event. The program concluded with an exclusive Onam feast for the students, which served 'Onapayasam' and snack packs. The celebration aligned with the college's constant effort of connecting its diverse student community, and creating a homely environment for all its students. It was a day when the students made an impact on others with their stunning looks that was hidden in their boring uniform. This day was the only day when most of the people in college return to the Kerala tradition — girls were wearing ethic dresses to become typical ethnic ladies and boys were at their best in the traditional attires. Overall, the Onam celebration was a grand success with the cooperation of the students, and the teaching and non-teaching staff of ICAT family.
