On the 13th of December, 2014, ICAT College of Design and Media
hosted a seminar on “Film Making” with the Father of Malaysian Animation
- Mr. Hassan Abd Muthalib. Mr. Hassan Abd Muthalib is a self-taught
Artist, Designer and Filmmaker. With a career spanning over 50 years,
Mr. Hassan has taught, scripted, directed, and produced many
commercials, animated filmlets, and television content.
During the seminar, Mr. Hassan shared his vast knowledge and learning that he has acquired from his journey spanning over 50 years. His talk delved into the history of Cinema in Malaysia with focus on Film language, and developments in Cinema and the Animation Film Industry in Southeast Asia from 1949 to the present. It revealed the secrets of effective visual storytelling that no book tells us.
