GHMC workshop @ ICAT, Hyderabad

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) conducted a workshop on “Clay Ganapathy”, on 10 September, 2015. The workshop aimed at invoking the craftsmanship in everyone and at the same time conveyed the importance of using Ganesh idols made of mud for worship. Our students from all departments of nearly 30 numbers have participated in the workshop.

Greater Hyderabad of Municipal Corporation who have organized the workshop insisted that one should prepare Ganesh idol from clay. They highlighted references from the Purans (mythological texts) that Ganapati was created from grime and thus it is right to use a Ganesh idol made of mud and not of Plaster of Paris, which many prefer just because they are light and aesthetically attractive. The organizers also insisted that pure spiritual particles (pavitraks) of Ganapati get attracted to a greater extent towards an idol made of mud than to that made of Plaster of Paris.

The organizers at the workshop explained how to make Lord Ganesha by using clay. Then the students where let to show their creative skills on mud. The various participants and organizers at the workshop appreciated our students’ creativity and responsibility towards the society. GHMC workshop on ‘Clay Ganapathy’ was very useful and enjoyable for our students.
